Alentejo
Cortes de Cima “Lour-inho” Branco 2023 comes from Cortes de Cima’s coastal vineyards on the Alentejo Coast, near Vila Nova de Milfontes, where sandy, silty-gravel soils and Atlantic influence give a very different expression from the warmer inland Alentejo. The wine is a blend of 75% Alvarinho and 25% Loureiro, two northern Portuguese varieties reimagined through a coastal southern lens. The grapes are hand-harvested, whole-cluster pressed, cold-settled, and fermented spontaneously with native yeasts in oak, then aged on lees — primarily in large Slovenian oak foudre and used French oak — before further resting in stainless steel. The result is vivid and saline, with citrus, sage, waxy floral notes, lemon pith, and sea-spray freshness; low in alcohol and high in energy, it is a perfect introduction to the new, Atlantic-influenced side of Cortes de Cima.
